Karin was born and grew up in Italy, although her parents are German, and was the youngest of four children. She went to the Varese European School where she completed her maturity, focussed on languages. Following her childhood love of dance, she trained internationally in classic, contemporary and jazz dance. She performed for 4 years with the ‘Dianna Folio’ and ‘Michel Raji’ modern dance companies, mainly in Italy and France.

In ’85 she completed drama school at the ‘Accademia dei Filodrammatici’ in Milan and increasingly worked in experimental theatre. She joined Jerzy Grotowski’s laboratory in Pontedera during ’86 and went on to tackle the work of Peter Brook in the J P Denizon company, in Italy, Germany and France.

In ’88 she started her own theatre company in Milan - “Ideatrucco”, resulting in 4 performances, unifying improvisation-theatre and dance, between ’88 and ’91.

Meanwhile, she performed in several theatres in Italy, playing leading roles under prestigious Italian directors, such as F. Branciaroli, L. Puggelli, S. Piccardi and last but not least ‘Giorgio Strehler’ at Milan’s ‘Piccolo Teatro’.

Since 1994, she has also been present on screen:

‘Crimson Dawn’ co-starring Franco Nero in Italy (cinema), ’Arsenio Lupin’ in Switzerland (TV), ’Piège en haute Sphère’ in France and became well established in Germany with the TV series ‘In between Night & Day’.

Since, she has taken part in over 40 films for television and cinema, but her research work has never stopped.

In ’99 she met the Austrian director ‘Peter Patzak’: The artistic collaboration resulted in 2 movies and 7 films for television, including leading roles, script development and editorial contribution.

‘Zodiac Sign’ won the Maverick Award in San José/California (2002), while ‘The Waterfalls of Slunji’ was awarded the European Director and Script Award in Venice, Italy (2003).

In 2003, Karin’s own first short-film ‘Synchronicity’ was released, as a result of another important artistic partnership - this time with the Anglo-Italian artist ‘Flaminia Graziadei’.

Their collaboration during the last three years leads to several film-scripts and international peforming projects in theatre and TV.

Currently, she is shooting for Italian cinema, in Torino (Nov. 2006).
